Encounter in Pelium

In th’ wintry woods of fair Philyra – quietude –
I rested ‘neath an ancient oak. My thoughts adrift,

I spoke my sins; the trees alone would hear my shrift.
With silent tread, she came. Her graceful, tall, soft-hued,
Physique, her bistre eyes and orphic gaze imbued
My soul with awe. Her breast, that perfect, naked rift,

Anoint’d with rime unmelting, trembled every lift,
And fall. I was at once transfixed and yet subdued.
With trepidation, I – intruder to her grove –
Approached. Her ears flicked nervously, her prongs on guard,
Yet she remained. My hands outstretched, I disregarded,
My fears to let my fingers find their treasure trove.
Upon my clumsy touch, her mythic body quaked,
And ‘t once we found ourselves entwined, unshamed, awake’d.
